ChäoS;Child Review — F

There is chaos. Lots of chaos.

What the flying fuck? This was bad. Amazingly bad. A perfect lesson in how not to make an anime.

First of all, could anyone possibly understand what happened in this show without serious help and studying? I tried to understand this for the first six episodes, and then I just gave up. The show is not at all interested in having the audience understand it. I suppose this should have been obvious by the fact that it is a sequel to a show that is also terrible, from many years ago, that no one in their right mind would bother watching now. For that reason they made an episode zero to refresh everyone’s memory. However, that episode zero was even more incomprehensible than the original show. I got very little out of it.

The point where I gave up was when somebody was murdered and their body parts were stuffed in cute little boxes, a la Mouryou no Hako. But I couldn’t figure out who was killed. They kept saying their name and everybody was crying, but I had no idea who it was. I did a short google search for this person and couldn’t even find a picture. So, yeah, the death scene doesn’t have much impact if you can’t even figure out who died after five minutes of research.

Plus, just what were they thinking making a sequel to Chaos; Head? That was such a terrible show.

  • Storytelling – F – Incomprehensible.
  • Voice – F – Ugh.
  • Characters – F – Why?
  • Attention Grab – F – Couldn’t even follow what was going on.
  • Production – C – Looks ok.
  • Overall – F

Recommendations – Steins; Gate, Occultice; Nine

  1. Err, I’m not going to say the show is good or anything, because it’s not. However if you couldn’t figure out who died in a major death scene that’s more on you than on the show lol.

The anime put in plenty of scenes to make sure Yui’s (That’s the girl who was put into the boxes btw) death had an impact. All of those family scenes where she’s watching out for Yuuto (The little brother character), the ones where everyone from the orphanage is doing stuff as a family, and parts where Nono goes on about how Yui is growing up plus following in her footsteps were all there.

You gotta admit that if you didn’t even know her name when that scene was playing, you didn’t pay much attention to the show. Of course it’s also a fair argument to say that the show bored you so much you just didn’t care. Though if that’s the case you shouldn’t claim to have tried to understand haha.

    1. Oh, yeah, it’s totally on me. The show bored me so much I didn’t care. What I meant in saying I tried to figure it out is that I googled “Yui chaos child” on google and couldn’t figure out who she was. 🙂

  2. The visual novel was pretty solid.
Chaos head and child would of been better off without anime adaptions.
