Superhumans try to figure out their place in the world.

I can appreciate what Concrete Revolutio is trying to do. But I just couldn’t bring myself to care.

Most of this is probably my fault. This is the kind of show that takes a lot of effort to watch. You have to pay careful attention to understand what’s going on. The episodes are not in order, there are a ton of characters who you have to keep track of, and you often can’t figure out why the characters are doing what they do (largely due to the out of order episodes). In short, it requires a lot of effort and attention to detail to watch. And recently, I simply haven’t had the energy for this.

It’s kind of like watching Penguindrum. Except Penguindrum tried a lot harder to draw you into the setting— it had many comedic moments, and it also forced you to really care about the characters. Concrete Revolutio doesn’t do either of these. It’s focused on its big message and doesn’t try to make things easier for the viewer. And hence, I didn’t care enough to muster up the energy to try and understand the show and its message.

But people who are less lazy than me seem to like it a lot.

• Characters – D – Couldn’t keep track of them. Nor did I particularly care what happened to them.
