Fall 2012 Anime Preview

I’ll be the first to admit that I have no idea how next season’s new shows will turn out. So I don’t do any research whatsoever. I just look at this chart, read the summary, and look at the preview image. Your guess is as good as mine. Enjoy: (click to enlarge)

A few shows worth elaborating on:

Kyousogiga is going to suck. Because the first OVA did. The creators are on drugs but not the good kind.

Chuunbiyou demo Koi ga Shitai! is by KyoAni and the description sounds crazy. Gonna be awesome, although the preview picture doesn’t look all that interesting.

The description of Litchi DE Hikari Club sounds absolutely amazing. I’m psyched.

Zetsuen no Tempest involves a witch and saving the world, and it’s made by Bones. Ordinarily I would be super-excited. But it reminds me a lot of No. 6.

I have heard great things about JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. But I’m generally not a fan of shounen, so this show will need to really be good to convince me.

Little Busters is supposed to be the greatest thing of all time. But I’ve hated every single Key show ever made except for Angel Beats. Which according to people who like Key is basically the worst Key show ever made. So yeah, I am not putting much faith in my liking Little Busters.

Psycho Pass sounds promising— Production IG, noitaminA— hey, just like Guilty Crown! The concept sounds similar too. But I’m hopeful this will be entertaining at the very least.

Robotics;Notes is also by Production IG in noitaminA, but I’m more confident about this since it involves robots, and, I’ve heard, the Illuminati. How can that possibly go wrong? Plus it’s by the creator of Steins; Gate and Chaos; Head. Chaos; Head sucked, but I’m still optimistic.

If I had to choose the shows I’m most excited about, I’d go with Litchi DE Hikari ClubChuunbiyou demo Koi ga Shitai!, and Robotics; Notes. Should be a good season.

And in terms of movies, Evangelion 3.0 is coming out! Whoo hoo!

What shows are you looking forward to or dreading for next season? How will the next season turn out? Your guess is as good as mine.

    1. Wait, seriously, doing cute things? That preview picture is quite misleading… I am looking forward to this much less now if this is anything like KimiBoku.

  1. But hey, Psycho-Pass has the same writer as Madoka.

Most psyched for: Litchi Light Club, Magi, and the Monster Seated Next to You.
Pretty excited for: Psycho-Pass, Zetsuen no Tempest.
Who fucking knows?: Chuunibyou, Robotics;Notes, Little Busters

    1. So it seems like it’s about bishies instead of pantsless girls… I’m still not that excited. At least it has pants… I guess?

  2. It looks like Jormungand S2 is the biggie for me this time around, though a few of the other action-oriented ones seem worth looking into. Don’t know why you’ve got Gintama crossed out, even reruns of that show are worth watching and frankly any activity on that front is promising for me. The manga’s had some kick-ass arcs since the series ended and I’m hoping to see another revival once they have enough material to work with.

The Mass Effect movie looks particularly disappointing. As with Halo Legends, it looks like the team has taken a cool universe and milked it for the visuals without putting any effort into giving us a memorable story.

Girls und Panzer looks like crap, but the concept seems funny enough to maybe get me through the first episode.

    1. That’s true, if there’s one show that can make reruns entertaining it’s Gintama. I still haven’t finished either the first or second seasons though.

That’s pretty much my thought on the Mass Effect movie as well. Plus it seems like it will be in some weird 3D form.

Girls und Panzer should at least be kind of weird like Upotte.

  3. I’m most looking forward to Girls und Panzer. No seriously I’ll watch the first episode just for the silliest name ever invented for an anime series but most likely this will be it.

Actually I already have a list of 12 series I’m excited about and a few others I’ll take a look at. So I agree, it should be a good season. The movies look awesome, too.

Most dreaded is certainly Seitokai no Ichizon as I found the first season super annoying and dropped it after a few episodes.

    1. I actually liked Seitokai no Ichizon! It could be pretty funny at times, although it was kind of dumb.

This new season should definitely be an improvement over the current one… The only shows I’m blogging that I still like are Kokoro Connect and Oda Nobuna of all things…

  4. Uh, Draggle. No offense, but you really need to research the shows that come out. How have you not heard of K or any of the hype surrounding that? It’s practically all over the Internet.

    1. Okay, I already chatted with you on Twitter about it, so forget that question.

Anyways, I’ll probably be blogging K, because it’s the one with the most hype due to being by the Mardock Scramble guys, the godly animation, the fact they hired every talented male seiyuu for the show, and that it looks kind of like Durarara.

These are the ones I’m sticking with, no matter how they turn out because:

      Robotic Notes- Noitamina doing Nitroplus
Psycho Pass- Noitamina with Gen Urobuchi
Little Busters- This one got a lot of controversy due to JC Staff adapting it, so I want to see how this turns out, even if it goes bad. Plus I like the male characters (females…not so much).
Chu2byou- It’s KyoAni doing something that’s not sketch comedy. I’m required to see that.

The others, I’ll skip the kiddy shows and sequels that aren’t Jormungand, whilst giving the others a chance. Kind of iffy on Magi though since I hate the writer.

      1. I’m kind of tempted to blog Little Busters too just so I can get lots of hate mail. Otherwise I’m not sure what I’ll do. I always wait for the first episodes to air so I can see how things turn out.

        1. I’m not planning on blogging the show (I make it a rule to only do 1-3 shows a season). Just watching it and writing the occasional article. And I don’t know how much hate mail you’ll get, considering that even the people who like Key think it’s going to suck because it’s JC Staff adapting it.

Also, Seitokai No Ichizon suc…*gets shot*

  5. Hmm. I won’t be watching Chuunbiyou demo Koi ga Shitai! because I can’t stand KyoAni. I’ll be watching Little Buster because everyone is holding high hopes for it. Other than that the third season of Bakuman as well as Magi are no brainer which I will no doubt enjoy. Robotic;Notes also sounds interesting. I’m tempted to watch Btooom just so I could say I watched the series before Microsoft brought it down and sued Shinchousha for releasing the manga in Japan.

All in all it seems like a much better season than what we are having now.

    1. How do you not like KyoAni? Nichijou and Hyouka were pretty much the greatest things ever.

I think it should be a good season as well.
