Hisone to Masotan Review — A-

Girls pilot dragons.

This show was adorable. Just look at Masotan’s smile. How can anyone not fall in love?

It reminds me a lot of ACCA, in that it dealt with a lot of absurd bureaucracy and had an excellent, understated sense of humor which was not just the usual boke tsukkomi jokes you get in anime. It had me cracking up all the time.

I loved how it never tried to expand the scale too much. Well, sure, they do end up saving part of Japan, but all the conflicts are down to Earth and localized. It’s more about dealing with somebody’s crush than it is about saving the world.

The characters are great and not stereotypes at all. I mean, it is about female pilots in the SDF, which is not much of a stereotype to start with. And they’re all messed up in their own unique way.

Also, the music is perfect. Love all the background music. The ending was also great.

  1. If there wasn’t a vore scene every episode I probably would’ve got more mileage out of this. Shit puts me off. Otherwise I agree, this is a one-of-a-kind show.
