Kouya no Kotobuki Hikoutai — First Impressions

Cute girls are fighter pilots.

Huh.

There were some parts I really liked. Mainly the faces. Oh my god. And all the characters have a lot of personality. It’s a kind of creepy setting too, what seems to be a peaceful world, except for air pirates. But somehow all of the characters have a total disregard for human life. The show even begins with an argument about who has killed the most people.

The battle scenes were a bit much for me though. They seemed to dragon on for a long time, and had to show half of it from a first person perspective. It was cool in moderation, but a bit much for me.

I’m a bit late to this, so how did the rest of it go? Might watch the next episode depending on how people felt.

  1. It is directed by Girls und Panzer director, so the combat is going to be top notch and escalate (especially episode 3-4. God, episode 4 is the best one yet.).

From how I remember it, I also confused by episode 1 aerial fight because the “geography” is very alienating (I mean they are that high in the sky, so aside from the zeppelin I have no landmark to orient myself and basically get lost on who is where doing what), but later episodes’ aerial fights are closer to the ground with faster pace so it is much easier to follow and appreciate.
