Manga I’m Reading Part II

Let’s pick up from where we left off.

Key: Recommend, Highly Recommend, Highest Recommendation.

I’m going in alphabetical order, so please recommend any favorites I miss!

Denpa Kyoushi: A crazy otaku teaches his students and builds a harem. More or less a combination of Great Teacher Onizuka and early Negima. I liked this a lot at first, but it’s dragging now. Should just end it. The anime never happened.

Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka Gaiden- Sword Oratoria: This is Danmachi but from Ais’ perspective. There’s also a manga that’s the same as the anime, but the anime is better / the same so not much point in reading it. I like this one better than the anime. Much more interesting characters and none of that stupid goddess and harem shit. Best girl is the one who’s obsessed with the captain.

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun: Just like the anime but better. One of the most consistently funny manga I’m reading. Amazing shipping as well.

Genshiken Nidaime: I’m about two years behind on this, but it’s really good so I shouldn’t go without mentioning it. You can see what I said about the anime here and here.

Gunota ga Mahou Sekai ni Tensei Shitara…: A reincarnating narou story, along similar lines to Mushoku Tensei, but with the guy being an expert in guns. Hasn’t gotten too far but pretty good so far. Although the main girl sucks.

Hensoku-kei Quadrangle: Four people get a chance to relive their high school lives and fix their mistakes. This is really good so far. Sort of like Kokoro Connect but much better. It’s still early on, and there are so many interesting directions they could head.

Hinamatsuri: A yakuza adopts a girl with supernatural powers. Hilarious. Definitely in the running for the funniest thing I’m reading right now. Kind of sweet too. I highly recommend everyone give this a shot.

Horimiya: A boy and girl become friends and start dating. So adorable. Most of the time it’s just the two of them lazing around the house. Lately it’s been getting into shipping their friends. Such a cute manga.

I Am a Hero: A guy with a firearms permit fights off hordes of zombies. This one’s great. Fairly bleak, lots of terrible things happen to lots of people. It’s especially good when it’s the characters just trying to survive. Gets less interesting as it moves into the dark secrets behind the zombies themselves, or politicking among the survivors.

Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo Dorei Majutsu: The video game world becomes real! And our main character becomes the demon king and enslaves two cute girls. Not too far yet, but I like the premise, and it’s been entertaining enough so far.

Kiss x Death: This is by the Mx0 guy. Escaped alien criminal parasites have invaded earth and possessed five cute girls. The only way to save them is by kissing them. Similar to Mx0, this one’s quite the wild ride, with excellent fanservice.

Kaguya Wants to be Confessed To: The Geniuses’ War of Love and Brains: This is one of my favorites being published at the moment. The student council president and vice-president are in love with each other, but neither wants to be the one to confess because that would be too embarrassing. It’s basically the Code Geass of romantic comedies. I die laughing from this every week. Plus it’s unbelievably cute. And I was the same way back in middle school…
