Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru Review — C

A boy and an older woman find corpses everywhere and solve mysteries.

Sakurako doesn’t have any friends and there are good reasons for that.

Overall… this series just bored me. I didn’t particularly care about any of the mysteries. I suspect the mysteries weren’t supposed to be the main focus, and it was supposed to be all about the characters, like Hyouka or Gosick. But if that’s the case it didn’t work too well. The boy is totally generic. And Sakurako is kind of an ass. There’s nothing particularly interesting about her, aside from her obsession with bones.

In many ways, Sakurako was superior to a lot of other shows this season. But a year from now I’m not going to remember a thing about it. At least something like Owari no Seraph or Dance with Devils is memorable, even if it it’s much more flawed than this show.

Rating: C
Recommendations: Hyouka, Gosick

  1. The mysteries were alright, but I just couldn’t stand how every two minutes the mc basically orgasmed because of something sakurakosan said or did, didn’t watch more than 3-4 episodes
