Nico-nico-niii~~~!

A group of nine girls becomes school idols to save the school.

I did find this somewhat amusing, if not all that exciting. My main problem is that putting Nico-senpai aside, most of the girls were just kind of boring. Their personalities do make them perfect candidates for becoming idols, but I couldn’t bring myself to care about them much. But I do have to give Love Live credit for not going with the ending I was expecting. And the show did make me laugh a fair amount.

But… they’re idols. Yuck. And they don’t fight robots in space during concerts. Lame.

  • Storytelling – C – Not exciting, although the humor is good.
  • Voice – B – Rather unique setup and vibe with this “school idol” idea.
  • Characters – C – The main characters are boring, except Nico.
  • Attention Grab – D – Was a pleasant form of drudgery.
  • Production – D – Do not like the animation.
  • Overall – C-

  1. Nico simply owned every scene. I don’t understand how a girl who bears an unnerving physical resemblance to the loli in SAO could be so utterly awesome.

But yeah, you’re right, the other characters aren’t anything special. Actually, I’ve already forgotten their names…

    1. Haha yes, she does kind of look like Yui… If Yui had Nico’s personality though that could have turned SAO around entirely.

  2. Oh man , I went and watched the entire series 2 weeks ago. Never felt more annoyed in my life until hearing “nico nico ni” over and over and over again!

White Album has achieved perfection in the Idol genre. I highly doubt anything will ever compare.

    1. White Album? Really? I watched the first season, but didn’t think it was all that great. I heard the second season was a lot better though.
