Everyone else seems to be complaining about this scene but I thought it was the best part. Just look at that face. Hilarious!
I think watching it with Spanish subtitles made it even funnier. No gustar bang!
Otherwise, though, this episode was as disappointing as usual. Akiho’s at gunpoint with some guy threatening to kill five billion people, so what does she do? Give a speech about how giant robots will save the world and always triumph over evil. Come on, your giant robot isn’t even there. She learns her sister is being brainwashed and forced to join the murderous cabal, and what is she worried about? Whether her sister still loves giant robots. I mean, I can accept she has a one track mind, but this is just silly.
The best part of course was Frau and the rest of the club coming back. I still don’t understand why they left in the first place though. The most interesting part of this show has always been the interactions among the club members. Let’s face it, Kai and Akiho are the two most boring characters in the entire show. And we just ditched everyone else for several episodes? Not a good plan.
The ending was exceedingly corny, it made me want to barf. Good lord. Everyone works together to build the giant robot and save the world with the power of friendship! How nice.
Further Thoughts
I discovered that Tanegashima space center is a real thing. Hadn’t even occurred to me that it might be before.
Um… why? Not being able to land added absolutely nothing. Not that I mind that much, it just seemed kind of pointless.
Akiho’s sister was actually kind of cool, back when she was a high school student who clubbed people to death in the back of the head.
At least Akiho knows something about robots. I can confirm this is completely accurate.
I wonder if the finale will involve robots. That was not made clear.
This might be a stretch, but I think it probably will.
I was afraid of this. They had to fit in five hours worth of material in three episodes. They had to fit about two hours into this episode. I still enjoyed it though (Corny ending aside) and I’d still rank it leagues above Chaos;Head.
Regardless, this was a series that definitely needed at least 26 episodes. It’s longer then Steins;Gate and they barely fit in enough for 24 episodes. We got lucky. Imagine if the director for R;N wasn’t the director of Steins;Gate.
What makes it even more frustrating is that they also fit something like five hours worth of material in the first fifteen episodes. Definitely could have done better in the pacing department.
I’m not convinced that’s the entire problem though. I think the biggest issue is that the story just isn’t all that great. It has poor buildup to a completely random conclusion. Chaos; Head did the exact same thing, and in retrospect, Steins; Gate’s story wasn’t all that great either. There the direction more than made up for the story problems, but here the direction is just average.
This anime is 22 episodes, bro MCAL.
Two more episodes left.
The next episode will have clash of the giant robots.
The final episode will be epilogue.
BTW. Why would Kimijima Kou want to kill five billion people, when he himself is nothing more than computer data currently? Oh, it must be because he is nuts. That’s all there is to it.

When I visited tanegashoma space center they gave me an english brochure and map talking about upcoming satelite launches in 1998. I visited last year and I think theyre still as relevant as always.
Oh, cool. Would like to visit sometime as well.

However, starting w/ episode 18 I came to like Akiho. She’s quite cute, I think (in particular w/ let down hair) and she’s a fighter, as well.
Btw, I assume you approve of the spider “robot”? From a construction point of view it seems to make much more sense than the two-legged ones.
Anime writers seem to have no idea what a great speech is. Like that speech by Maid in Maoyuu Yuusha last week. Took up a whole episode, was supposed to be highly motivational, enough to inspire a revolution, but it was a horrible speech filled with hateful ideas. I would have thrown tomatoes at her for calling people sub-human.
But yeah, Akiho is cute. I’ve thought that since the beginning.
