Summer 2015 Anime Season Preview

Of course, I decided whether each show would be worthwhile based solely on a single picture and the text in the chart.

Here’s what I’m most excited about:

  • Prison School: Omg omg omg omg. Can’t wait for this. The manga is great. It’s this hilarious, over the top, completely disgusting thing. Love it. Sadly I suspect that this is one case where the anime will never be nearly as good as the manga, however.
  • SYMPHOGEAR: Because fuck the moon.
  • Gate: I enjoy this manga quite a bit. It’s a harem where the main character is in the Japanese army, colonizing the world to make it a better place, just like the glorious Japanese army used to in the good old days. I’ve heard people say that this is worse than Mahouka, but the manga at least is nowhere near that bad. It’s an entertaining story even if the author’s politics are kind of dumb. I have a bit of distance though so I can just laugh off the tales of the glory of the Japanese Self Defense Force.
  • Working!!!: Never thought this would get a sequel, but I’m excited! More Yamada, woot! I like how straightforward they are with their use of punctuation to number new seasons too.
  • Gatchaman Crowds Insight: Yay! Can’t wait!
  • Rokka no Yuusha: Don’t know anything about this but the description sounds pretty cool.

There’s also a ton of shows I can watch with Classy. And a bunch of shows that could go either way. This looks like it should be a pretty good season!

  1. Can’t imagine how disappointing a poorly animated and watered down Prison School anime would be like, what’s the point? That’s probably what we’ll get though. That other pervy J.C Staff show might even be better.

    1. I look forward to Overlord, it looks like it may be actually rather fun. It sounds like “Dungeon Keeper: The Anime”.

On the other hand, Draggle, you looking forward to Gate of all things? From what I understand it’s even worse nationalist tripe than The Irregular in Magic School ever was.

      1. I actually liked the nationalist tripe parts of Mahouka, I thought they were hilarious. The only thing I had against Mahouka was that it was unbelievably boring.
