Winter 2013 Anime Preview

I’ll be the first to admit that I have no idea how next season’s new shows will turn out. So I don’t do any research whatsoever. I just look at this chart, read the summary, and look at the preview image. Your guess is as good as mine. Enjoy: (click to enlarge)

Winter 2012/13 Anime Chart v2It doesn’t look like a very strong season. That’s not to say there’s nothing that has any potential— there are seven shows that I circled in green— but there’s nothing I can really say I’m excited about. Nothing really jumps out at me. Of course, there will probably be surprises as usual, and a fair number of shows are carrying over from the previous season, so I’m not too worried. Usually winter is the weakest season anyway.

  1. Do some research you lazy starfish!

All joking aside, it looks like the only thing on the list that has an interesting premise is Cuticle Inaba (and maybe the Monkey Punch one). Of course, I’m watching the Kyoani and Shaft shows because I feel obligated to as an anime fan. And I also have to watch…urgh…fucking Da Capo.

I’ve heard good things about the Mao Yuusha manga, but ARMS is one of those studios that I don’t like, yet I can’t recommend it to other people the same way I do Silver Link, for a reason. Maybe they’ll rise to the material though. I don’t know.

    1. Never, I’m too lazy!

I try to watch most shows usually, but even I don’t hate myself enough to watch Da Capo.

I’m afraid of Mao Yuusha just because she has enormous breasts. I’ve found that shows with enormous breasts are usually not that good.

  2. I’m pretty much banking living for the monkey punch thing and for the star driver movie. but hey! The continuing shows are good, and I have a large backlog 😀

    1. There are a lot of continuing shows, that should pull us through the winter. I have a huge backlog as well.

  3. Just watched the first episode of Maoyuu and it was (if you ignore the breast physics) as I thought, pretty good for an ARMS show. Although the artstyle isn’t as good as the manga’s, if you like Spice and Wolf then you will most like love this show.
