Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian Review — B

She’s cute.

It sounds so gimmicky (and it totally is) but I really enjoyed this. It’s super cute and quite well made.

I think the show’s main weakness is it tried to get a little too serious with the whole school president arc. Do people actually take this shit seriously? Does not seem like ruining friendships over and the childhood friend came across as waaaay out of line the lengths she would go to for this.

  • Storytelling – B – Slightly too far in the serious school politics direction.
  • Voice – B – Cute!
  • Characters – B – Quite a lot of personality. Even the male lead isn’t bad.
  • Attention Grab – B – Kept my interest.
  • Production – B – Pretty good.
  • Overall – B

  1. Well, the real root of the “serious issues” is the Suou household and their impact on Masachika and Yuki. The show itself is clearly a lighthearted romcom, but the background story is very much not. However, this will most likely take season 3 to fully explore.
