  1. Hentai has less substance, Plus Sized Elf at least is offering something of practical use, dieting and exercise. Does it have some cheesecake and half frontal nudity? Yes. Does that make it hentai? Not even close, I’ve seen hentai, like Harem Camp, which I’m kind of late to, but the 18+ series tend to not get officially localized in anime form anyway.

    1. Also, are we really going to claim this is fat shaming? There are women of varying sizes here, not just in height, but build. And nowhere are they suggesting that you cannot be healthy and have some chub, the male lead’s boss is arguably in that vein, she’s no hourglass and they normalize it, because the standard of beauty is not just slim and slender, it’s “Hey some ladies are just thicker and that’s okay as long as it doesn’t create negative physical effects on them,”

  2. I was confused slightly, apparently CR didn’t localize Ramen Akaneko’s title, even though I think the manga is localized as Red Cat Ramen. Minor thing, but yeah, I was pretty much guaranteed to watch this one. If anything, I wish I had more time on Fridays to fit in Bye Bye EArth, but I’m backlogging it

  3. Suicide Squad is kind of hit and miss, but it has enough of a base audience that it’s unlikely to really ever not do well enough for other similar ideas. I can think of at least 4 other variations, 2 live action and 2 animated films, plus other related stuff, like Task Force X in the Timmverse (Justice League Unlimited I believe specifically).

Putting them in a fantasy setting like this is odd, but I’d be genuinely stunned if they tried to continue it (though they are leaving crumbs to suggest it might go onward, I’m watching episode 8 today). DC has done alternate universe stuff since the 80s, including stuff that has animated adaptations: Batman in Victorian era and Superman if he landed in Communist Russia. There are others too

  4. Elusive Samurai is an interesting one for me in how they’re seemingly breaking it up into cours versus doing a continuous 25~ episodes. But it probably helps to stretch it out, Dr. Stone has been done for 2+ years and we’re still waiting on the final season, maybe next year

And yeah, the opening is actually darker when you realize certain characters are in there in spite of what we see happen in the first episode
