Oda Nobuna no Yabou 09 — Defending Kyoto from Raging Lesbians

Mitsuhide continues to be my favorite character. She has the best clothes, the best hairstyle, she isn’t a loli (this is important), and she isn’t happy all the time.

I’m also a fan of the new shogun solely for being so goofy.

If you’re unaware of what the Honnouji event is, it’s when Mitsuhide betrayed Nobunaga, leading to his death. I like how the monkey actually has a brain and realizes that Mitsuhide’s exclusion after the cooking contest could lead to this. In a lesser show the protagonist wouldn’t realize until it was too late.

The reason Saru knew that something was amiss is because historically, Uesugi and Takeda didn’t become allies at this point in time. Although apparently they later would, but only after Takeda died.

This was a decent episode, but the ending suffered from some major corniness. “I want to show that you can choose your own future!” I’m pretty sure this was not Oda Nobunaga’s motivation for conquering Japan. Also the way Nobuna’s allies all came from nowhere at the last minute was cheesy too, but I didn’t mind that much. It was also a bit confusing how Nobuna appeared on the roof suddenly after she just got shot at. Not a clear flow of time here.

  1. Thought you might mention something about a magical phone that goes several months (or however long Saru has been there) without charging to suddenly work again for a little bit.

    1. Hey, in a world with time travel long-lasting batteries are the least of my worries! The battery is expending energy before it was even created, and you’re worried about how long its charge lasts?!!!
