Triumph of the Worst Girls — Eleven Days of Advent and One Day of Christmas #6

I for one am bored to death of kind anime characters who ganbarimasu. Talk about boring.

Fortunately, 2016 was an amazing year for anime best girls who didn’t have the best personalities. Some were, objectively speaking, little pieces of shit. Others weren’t necessarily bad people, just lazy as fuck. Still others were merely incompetent. And some had lost their marbles. But all of them were adorable.

Aqua, Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!.  How can total failure at everything and complete assholery possibly be so cute?

Megumin, Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!.  Speaking of failure… And yeah, this show had two best girls. But way more than two terrible people. Obviously.

Houtarou, Dageshi Kashi. Just look at that face. The face of a woman who’d murder you for a piece of candy.

Chitose, Girlish Number. How to fail as a human being: Exhibit A.

Reoko, Bubuki Buranki. Why is evil always so hot? Especially the evil loli centenarians.

Lovepon, Mayoiga. Ah, Lovepon. May you never be forgotten.

Such a great year for best girls. Who did I forget?

  1. Two more that come to my mind are Midori from Space Patrol Luluco (steals shit, hangs around only to have a chance with the hot guy) and Yukako from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: DiU (the archetypical yandere). If you want to broaden a bit your definition it may fit even this season’s Kae Serinuma from Kiss Him, Not Me, but frankly I feel like they mellowed out too much her supposedly obsessive fujoshi personality for that to work.

    1. Yeah, she ended up being a pretty typical anime girl, it was disappointing. I haven’t seen Luluco but Yukako is a good one.
