Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches — First Impressions

Body swapping and kissing.

The first episode was way better than I expected. I have read the manga but I wasn’t a huge fan of it. It’s pretty much a generic school harem but with weird kissing powers (which of course is already an improvement).

This episode had a good sense of pacing and of humor. It didn’t drag or feel boring.

I also like how they did the body swapping, with the changed voices and mannerisms. Seeing Yamada in Shiraishi’s body was pretty funny. I also like how Shiraishi has quite a strong personality, more so than I remembered from the manga.

Overall, this is off to a surprisingly decent start.

    1. It’s… interesting… at least. A few episodes in I’m still not entirely sure what I think of it. Mostly it’s just Shiraishi and Yamada switching which works okay.

  1. I think you’re going to like Yamada-kun overall. Most high school series have people freaking out over holding hands, and the way everyone is so casual about kissing feels very refreshing in comparison

    1. Yeah, so far it’s been great! I’ve been very impressed. I have read the manga before but still surprised it turned out this well.
