DanMachi is kind of…divisive from what I hear. It’s definitely in my wheelhouse, I wish I’d have started it when it first came out, had to play catch up just for S1.
As for it ending, that would depend on where the light novel and manga are, since they seemingly came about within the same year. There could be an end in sight, but that’d involve several factors. This one supposedly will have a big development like season 2 (wow, really only season 2 where the Ishtar Familia appeared? I swore it was at least 3)
I think I read the first volume of Ranma’s manga, but my familiarity more directly is through this remake, like with Urusei Yatsura. The author has improved her craft here, this takes a different angle than UY, less episodic comedy and a bit more martial arts/sports mixed in with the romance.
The rules on the cursed springs and such still get debated, though I think Takahashi herself confirmed some of them with Ranma in particular. I wonder how they’re going to adapt it, since it’ll probably have to condense or otherwise truncate/remove stuff regarded as filler or less important
The premise sounds different than what it really is: star crossed is not what I would call it, since that entails their parents hate each other or such. At most, it’s romantic drama with sports as well, so kind of a weird mix but fun as well. If you’re not much on sports, it can be overfull of that content versus the romance, which I’d almost argue gets overshadowed by the sports competition aspects.
The focus is relationships, it’s just that sports are kind of a big part of one pairs’ lives, they aspire to get to the Inter High competition and such.
