Parasyte: The Maxim — First Impressions

A man begins talking to his right hand.

Off to a great start. An interesting setup and characters, good sense of foreboding. Pretty disgusting body horror.

Which is the issue I have with this. It’s good if you’re into that, but honestly, this kind of thing really grosses me out. So it’s a good show, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to keep watching. I watch anime to entertain myself, after all, and if I’m just avoiding looking at the screen most of the time it’s not much fun. This episode was at bearable levels though so we’ll see how it goes.

  1. My thoughts exactly. It was great in all respects but if it becomes worse than this… EHHHHWWWWWW. There’s only so much I can stomach, sadly.

  2. Really? I don’t really think its that gross, but maybe we have a different tolerance level.

The thing that surprise me most about the anime though, is that there are actually quite a couple of comedic moments in the anime (that boob grabbing). Granted its dark comedic, but still.

    1. Yeah, I’m kind of queasy with body horror stuff. Don’t really mind bugs or corpses in real life but tentacle attachments… ick.

  3. I love a good horror anime. There are so few out there. They’re so unique. I get tired of all the drama, slice of life bullshit floating around the anime world. I can’t wait to see how this one unfolds. 🙂
