Guys, this is what happens if you let blogger drama go too far. Thank god they didn’t try to have an internet personality tourney!
In this episode, we jump into the world of cybercrime. Unfortunately, I’m not all too pleased with the way the future internet is presented. This is basically a poor man’s Snow Crash, just where people have the opportunity to piss each other off by wearing their stupid avatars in the real world.
And in a world where the government has such total control over people’s lives, why does it seem to have no control at all over the internet? Why does it allow anarchists to keep a pulpit to preach from?
In a world where the government can unearth a crime by detecting an unfixed toilet (but not send someone to fix the toilet), how could such an internet with no restrictions exist? It doesn’t make much sense.
PSYCHO PASS is not Moe
PSYCHO PASS is not moe.
PSYCHO PASS is not moe.
PSYCHO PASS is not moe.
Further Thoughts
I was kind of looking forward to Akane finding out who her Internet friend from school was, but I guess that’s not going to happen…
That’s one of the advantages of full state control, I suppose. It’s kind of odd that anarchists are so popular on the net. Seems to be the polar opposite of the current world. You think they’d go for a bit more moderate change…
Why is crazy joker dude so popular? He seems like a future version of Dr. Phil who dispenses the most inane advice imaginable.
Maybe when I die someone wants to take up my mantle and become draggle? (please don’t murder me though)
We’ve learned that the “clothes” people wear (or the lack thereof) are called holo-cosplay. I’m surprised the police don’t have a way to disable this. If it causes problems for law enforcement, why not just ban it?
Did the joker just change everyone’s costumes, or did he also hack the costumes? It seemed like the cops were executing people with high psycho pass left and right. I guess people on the internet are all mentally unhinged.
Well, they were not Killing the people in the Party, they were only Stunning them.
just remember the first episode, when the Dominator is set to kill it Blows up the Target like the Gantz Gun.
I seem to remember it saying “Execution” for some reason, but maybe that was just cool Engrish. You’re right, they didn’t explode like before. That was a bit gratuitous.
I’m starting to give up on Psycho-Pass. This episode had a ridiculous amount of awful dialogue which makes me believe it will go the way of Fate/Zero. I’m sure I could pull some message out of the plot, but it was so boring that I don’t even care.
And why is the internet so free under what appears to be a fascist state? Is it to draw attention to the rumblings in the lower rungs of society, or is it just an inane plot device?
In the end, it isn’t the little things that hurt this show. It has each ingredient necessary to make a great anime, but it just can’t put them together.
I don’t mind the dialog. Didn’t mind too much in Fate / Zero either, except when it involved Saber, Lancer or Irisviel.
The freedom on the internet makes no sense to me either though.
“And in a world where the government has such total control over people’s lives, why does it seem to have no control at all over the internet?”
I could imagine that there’s some sort of tolerated anarchy in the net as sort of an outlet for people’s emotions. It would make sense in a society where RL is ueber controlled in such a way.
I was surprised, though, that the detectives couldn’t determine the club visitors’ identities!
I guess that could kind of make sense. Still, you’d think they’d provide more an illusion of anarchy than actual anarchy.
