Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online — First Impressions

People shoot each other in a video game.

Whoa, that was a really good episode. A great introduction to this world and a very engaging episode with a strong sense of tension.

It does have some things very reminiscent of Sword Art Online (and not in a good way): the main character is the only cute girl with nice clothes, and (so far) the only one with super speed which seems like a bit of a cheat to me. At least based on the abilities of the other people we saw this episode.

This game does not look very fun though. I understand why she’s crying (but why do you play the game if you hate getting shot that much)… Who wouldn’t hate getting shot though? It seems like a miserable game where you get shot and bleed to death every game. The people look like they are in actual pain when they get shot. Why would you do that to yourself?

Also, the game does not seem very fair. Why do some of the teams have two people and some have six…

Presumably by choice. I’ve seen that in PvP and PvE before, people will pick teams that they think will work or will have enough firepower/special abilities to overcome larger teams or the known challenges of the event.
