Kids cheat at games.
When I was in elementary school, we played this version of “four square” at recess where the king got to make up whatever rules they wanted to keep themselves in power. It made the game completely miserable for everyone compared to the original game. Anyway, that’s this anime, where everyone competes in stupid cell phone games and also cheat at them!
It started kind of interesting in the first episode with the two lead characters both revealing their lies and sort of teaming up. I was intrigued.
Then it forgot all about that, focused on the minutiae of these shitty games, forgot the main character had a personality and any chemistry with the female lead, and added a bunch of soulless side characters who I could barely keep track of.
- Storytelling – D – These games… please…
- Voice – D – It’s like Index but lame.
- Characters – C – Nice designs, decent start, what happened?
- Attention Grab – D – Lost all interest by the end.
- Production – C – Looks ok.
- Overall – C-
Recommendations – Games are more fun if you don’t cheat. (And if you want to make a show about cheating, at least make it entertaining.)
