Once Upon a Witch’s Death Review — B

A young witch will die in a year, unless she can collect enough tears of joy.

This one surprised me with how much I enjoy it! It really did not shy away from difficult topics— children dying, environmental devastation, the use of technology, medical ethics, etc. I especially liked how it didn’t try to find an answer for them but also didn’t avoid them.

Great characterizations too— Meg is a bit of a dumbass but a lovable one.  Her friends are great too. I especially liked her childhood friend (they had great chemistry together) and the quiet one.

  • Storytelling – B – Diverse set of stories, each interesting.
  • Voice – B – A bit generic in setting but not in the topics it approaches.
  • Characters – B – A bit basic but consistent and interesting.
  • Attention Grab – B – Kept my interest, although I wasn’t glued.
  • Production – B – Looks good.
  • Overall – B
