Most of my complaints about this show so far have boiled down to, “It’s not bodacious.” Well, aside from the fact that it’s not at all what I expected, it has been pretty decent. I like how they pay so much attention to the minute details of space travel and the setting. I think it’s unfortunate that they decided to change the title from the novel’s “Miniskirt Space Pirates” to the TV show’s “Bodacious Space Pirates.” The latter is much less accurate, and promises things which aren’t being delivered. But I’ve decided to stop expecting this show to become more bodacious and accept it as it is.

Humor

This show certainly isn’t the funniest thing ever. But it does have its comedic moments. Unlike, say, Nichijou or Nichibros, it’s a very laid back sense of humor. Blink and you’ll miss it. But this episode did manage to get a few chuckles out of me.

It was unexpected as well, and found it amusing how she was the only one who agreed.

So it’s not drop over dead laughing funny, but enough to elicit a chuckle or two.

Also, I thought Marika’s sleep deprived face as she floated through the ship was hilarious:

Boring Teachers

The thing that bothers me the most is still the two teachers. These two manage to bore me in the leadup to a battle in space. I can only imagine what it’s like listening to them in the classroom.

The other characters suffer from this problem as well, although to a lesser extent. Their voices and actions just seem to carry very little enthusiasm behind them. Marika and Chiaki are less affected, but the other characters just feel detached somehow. They’re too calm and not all that emotional. Plus, we’ve barely seen anything of the rest of the students, aside from the president.
