Grisaia no Kajitsu — First Impressions

A boy transfers to a new school, meets his new harem, and looks up their skirts.

Then they try to murder him.

Wait, what?!!

Ok, so I was completely caught off guard by this. Three quarters of the way through, I was ready to dismiss it as a slightly above average harem show. Then this girl tries to murder the main character with a box knife, he walks in on another girl changing and doesn’t give a crap, and later he pulls a sniper rifle out from under his bed.

Well then.

The main character is… interesting. He’s kind of a cross between Tatsuya from Mahouka, Sosuki Sagara from FMP, and Araragi from Bakemonogatari. Most of the time he seems pretty aloof, but he certainly has his moments.

The show’s atmosphere and general feeling reminds me of a cross between Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi and Crime Edge.

So, yeah, I’m mildly enthusiastic about how this could turn out!

  1. I’m watching this because my girlfriend swears that the visual novel is incredible. I didn’t really see anything too great in the first episode, but it definitely seems like it has potential.

      1. You know this game already has a $150K funded kickstarter? Coupled with the Clannad kickstarter, its apparent otaku have too much disposable incomes & very misplaced loyalties.

        1. From what I’ve seen of people doing playthroughs on Twitter, it looks like the game is actually pretty good as far as visual novels go. Now the interest in visual novelties at all… I don’t get it.
