Colloquium: Queen’s Blade Rebellion 11 and 12
This week’s post is a collaboration with Emperor J, redball, Reiseng, SnippetTee, John Sato, and Foshizzel (who provided pictures).
draggle: Taken literally, the ending to Queen’s Blade: Rebellion makes no sense. The rebels and the Queen join in battle, and then… everyone leaves. Our heroines journey to the forest temple, where they transform into rainbows and fly into the ceiling. The twin peaks fall away to reveal a phallic spaceship. redball: We’ve joined together once again to imbibe in the grand story of Queen’s Blade. Each week we learn more about the world in which the show takes place, and this week was no different. I must say that, after watching three episodes in a single evening, I for one am practically drunk with new and exciting information. Colloqium: Queen’s Blade 6 + 7: A World without Pants
This week’s post is a collaboration with John Sato, Reiseng, redball, and Foshizzel (who provided pictures).
draggle: One of the major ways in which the world of Queen’s Blade differs from our own is that pants do not appear to have been invented yet. All of the female characters (human or otherwise) wear either dresses, short skirts, or undergarments alone. As a study in cultural anthropology, this lack of pants leads to many interesting cultural differences, including the apparent lack of shame at having one’s undergarments exposed. Colloqium: Queen’s Blade 4 + 5 — The Divine Union
This post is a collaboration with SnippetTee, redball, John Sato, and Foshizzel (who provided pictures).
draggle: This week’s episode of Queen’s Blade thoughtfully explores a topic relevant in modern life: the conflict between faith and science.
The religious order of Queen’s Blade practices a form of asceticism in which the worshiper obtains divine union with God through ritual. In this ritual, the practitioner feels the breath of God and experiences true freedom, albeit momentarily, through the act of lifting her skirt. (The God of Queen’s Blade is male, so men are unable to experience the divine union and are hence fated to be tossed with the chaff into the lake of unquenchable fire).
