The Week in Anime — Spring 2014 #4 (Mahouka is Dumb Part 2)

Mahouka — Tatsuya and his fellow weeds are getting screwed over. But he likes it.

Maybe I should just blog this show. There certainly isn’t a lack of things to say about it. The short version: separate but equal is right, calling people “ni**ers” is okay because black people do it too, and people who want equality support terrorism. Captain Earth — My favorite line in all anime! Fortunately in this context it sort of makes sense since the other guy is complaining that he isn’t himself. Which itself makes no sense but at least they pointed it out. Watching this show’s awesome space bases and stuff is depressing though. Why don’t we have anything so awesome?! Physics is sad. Also the bad guys can just go to Earth and drive their crepe truck around? Why do they need to attack from the moon anyway? I wonder if they’re actually just normal humans from Earth who created an enemy so they could get funding for planetary defense.

Mahouka — So, this week’s episode is Entitlement 101. Revolutionaries have infiltrated the school. Their demands: equality! Those bastards! As any reasonable person knows, those who demand equality are actually just cover groups for terrorists who want to weaken Japan so that they can be invaded by China. Equality is impossible and wrong, since people are different! Like look at Tatsuya, he has mad skills and is superior to everyone else. Because he works hard! People who don’t have magic don’t work as hard and so they should be grateful to lick the nobility’s asses. The only thing wrong with the world is that people don’t know how to recognize Tatsuya’s skills as they should. Continue reading The Week in Anime — Spring 2014 #3 (Mahouka is Dumb Edition)

Ryuugayou Nanana: Despite the dumb setup with the cute gamer girl living in his room, they actually haven’t exploited it all that much. She’s more like an NPC in a video game. She gives information to anybody, regardless of who they are and regardless of the consequences. She can always be found in the same location, she gives out quests, she knows all the item stats. This entire world seems to be a game. Continue reading The Week in Anime — Spring 2014 #2

The Week in Anime — Spring 2014 #1

So, you may have noticed we’re a quarter of the way through the new season and I haven’t picked up a single new show. Well, I’ve been extremely busy. I’ve had friends visiting the past two weekends, my thesis is due in two weeks, I’m graduating in a month, and I’ll be traveling for all of June. So… yeah. Blogging this season is going to be erratic at best.

I think I’m going to ditch blogging shows on an episodic basis for this season only (don’t worry, will be back in the summer when I have more time) and only do shorter weekly or bi-weekly posts. And I still have last season’s reviews to finish posting, as well as a large number of Narutaru posts saved up for June. So June will be the month of Narutaru! Woot! I know all my readers can’t wait!!!

Love Live: … They grab on to each other and a tree to reach this. Then they proceed to fall and roll down the side of a mountain. I don’t know how that is physically possible. Continue reading The Week in Anime — Spring 2014 #1

Wake Up Girls: I’m with bro.

Golden Time: I want to kill all these people. Tada Banri keeps apologizing for no reason, and saying meaningless BS like how he wants to live, as if he has solved some major problem. Linda beats the crap out of Tada Banri in broad daylight because he invited Yana to come to their club. How terrible. Their club, which is the “festival club.” What a bullshit club. Is its only purpose to invite losers who can’t figure out how to go to parties in college without joining a club to do so? Then it gets worse, when Oka sees Tada Banri talking to Linda, accusing him of cheating on Koko and betraying Yana. When Koko told him to talk to Linda, and he was trying to hook up Linda with Yana. Jesus. With friends like these, I’m starting to sympathize with Tada Banri being such a wuss and preemptively apologizing all the time.  Continue reading The Week in Anime, Winter 2014 #3
