The Week in Anime, Winter 2014 #1
Ok so it’s more like the month in anime now but whatever.
Nou-rin: Been watching this with the good folks at Classy. I’m almost ashamed to say it but I’ve really enjoyed this show. It’s much better than Queen’s Blade, Senran Kagura, and Oreimo at least. The episodes with the panties and the planting contest that turned into a mud wrestling match were particularly entertaining. If you’re going to make a perverted harem show, you should go all the way and make it extraordinarily perverted and extraordinarily stupid. Nou-rin does so and I approve. Also Hanazawa Kana’s character is amazing. Continue reading The Week in Anime, Winter 2014 #1
The Week in Anime, Fall 2013 #10 — Galileo Proves the Earth is Round
Galilei Donna — I’m glad I learned so much about Galileo from this very educational series. Galileo proved that the Earth was round through first hand observation by flying his airplane off a cliff. Oh, right, he also invented the airplane. What a great scientist. And as a footnote to history, he also invented Japanese candy. And had a fling with his great-great-great granddaughter. Ah he also was the first to study the moon carefully through a telescope. And uncovered its evil plot and saved the world. Because fuck the moon. The Week in Anime, Fall 2013 #9 — Crazy Twintails is Back
Tokyo Ravens — Oooh, the crazy girl from the first episode is back! To be fair, the whole thing with resurrecting her brother was kind of dumb, but I like to see her hitting on the main guy and abusing Natsume. Yeah, I always like the crazy people. She makes the love comedy hijinks a lot more interesting. Continue reading The Week in Anime, Fall 2013 #9 — Crazy Twintails is Back
The Week in Anime, Fall 2013 #8 — Hozukii Invents Central Heating
Galilei Donna — Japan has central heating now. Thanks be to Galileo!
Gingitsune — This is more like it. What an adorable episode. This show reminds me a lot of Kamichu. Which come to think of it I really ought to rewatch. Seeing the foxes and children goof around is much more enjoyable than anything mildly dramatic like last week’s episode.
