This is one of my favorite manga ever. Every chapter leaves me rolling on the floor in tears. Not quite Grand Blue levels but still a masterpiece.
Sadly, the anime adaptation was a huge disappointment. It’s still funny, but that’s based entirely on the underlying source material, and the anime is a huge step down. Compare this scene in the two adaptations:
I think we can all agree which one’s better. And the whole manga is like that. It has this epic drawing style which really makes the manga what it is. And the anime is utterly lacking that.
Same with the voice acting. I don’t think Chio’s voice suits her at all.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s still hilarious. But if you have to choose one, read the manga instead.
I was pleasantly surprised at how funny it was… Not LOL funny, but a steady stream of chuckles.
Yeah… the manga is laugh out loud funny you should really check it out 🙂
The second episode is surprisingly much much better than the first episode. Whoever directed or animated the second episode should’ve been the one to do this episode to make better impression.
Yeah, the show has had its good moments, especially in the second episode if I recall correctly. Still, it’s a disappointment compared to the manga… (although I hate to be the person whining about this)
