More shenanigans with candy.
As before, this series continues to have amazing facial expressions, is pretty funny, and has some really good shipping.
I didn’t see how this season could compare to the last one, since Hotaru, who drives most of the first show, is absent for half of this one. But it ended up turning out great. There were one or two episodes with only Sayaka that were a bit slow (sorry, Sayaka). But then a new character shows up who Kokonotsu has to boss around as the manager and she was hilarious to nearly Hotaru levels. That episode where they make a website… oh my god. JAVASCRIPT!!!
Then when Hotaru came back at the end, it had quite the impact. Kokonotsu even grew over the course of the series.
It was great! Slightly better than the first season in my opinion, since they mixed things up from the formula about just trying out different types of candy. (Although they still did plenty of that too.)
- Storytelling – B – Good at telling jokes, always interesting and funny.
- Voice – A – Lol, those faces.
- Characters – A – They’re all great. Even Sayaka’s brother.
- Attention Grab – A – Kept my attention perfectly. Great use of short format.
- Production – B – Looks good!
- Overall – B+

I just want to chime in that I completely agree with your review. Hajime was a great addition to the cast, and I think this season was, as you say, even stronger than the first. The ending was maybe a bit rushed, but I love the way it focused on the future – both of small town Japan, and Kokonatsu himself.
Yeah! Great season!!!
