Soldiers with superpowers go crazy and their captain has to kill them.

I read part of this manga several years ago, and I absolutely love the premise. Betrayals, abandonment, lots of moral ambiguity, it’s great.

The one thing I found lacking from the anime was the tone. Especially with the scene at the start, they’re showing the hell of war and people are dying all around, then this superhero squad of monsters shows up and massacres everyone. I feel like the anime creators attempted to make them look cool in this scene. Which so completely misses the point I don’t even know where to begin.

Similarly, the heart-pumping music at the end where the main character goes about murdering his old comrade was completely inappropriate.
