We have a mysterious world that’s ruled by evil Buddhist monks. How can this not turn out well? There are magic powers which have been sealed in a bloody ritual, kids who disappear if they don’t gain these magic powers, and some sort of mind control. The opening segment happened in a modern city, so I assume there’s some sort of multi-world or time travelling component to this as well.
