People live in the video game world.
It’s amazing how this picked up right where it left off after a break of 5+ years. Right back with the same problems the original suffered from— a lack of focus, divided attention, two many characters, and an illusion of complexity with no goal or reward.
The show has always tried to have this complex political system, an economy etc.—- but it never reaches a point where the viewer feels at home enough in the world that the viewer can truly understand it or make predictions. It’s always just, “oh, this is solved by something else the author hadn’t explained before”. Or maybe that’s just how it feels to me because I haven’t paid close enough attention. In my defense, I can barely remember who all the characters are or what happened in the previous season.
Fuck the Moon.
- Storytelling – C – Too much, unfocused.
- Voice – C – Cool world.
- Characters – B – Decent but too many of them. Even when it sends some of them to China and whatnot.
- Attention Grab – C – I’d often doze off a bit.
- Production – B – Looks fine..
- Overall – C+
