Glasslip Review — F

A bunch of kids do nothing except treat each other like shit.

This show is awful. Absolutely infuriating. The animated robots walking around are some of the most pathetic excuses for “characters” I have ever seen. Especially the main male character. He has less of a personality than Tatsuya. At least Tatsuya is consistent in being a soulless robot.

Also many elements of the show make no sense. The first screenshot is from a girl in a swimsuit chasing after this guy who’s running on a bike. She can’t catch up, and she tells him to “Please stay attractive.” WTF? Apparently this is a bad translation. Like it matters.

Then some other guy starts having delusions. Then we enter a parallel world (which is more interesting than the actual world).

Originally I thought Glasslip might be a copy of True Tears since it had chickens and love triangles. Then I thought this would be more mediocre cute girls doing cute things from PA Works, along the lines of Hanasaku Iroha and Tari Tari. However, Glasslip exceeded all of my expectations. Its very existence is offensive to me . The universe would have been a better place if it were never made.

Glasslip is dumb and pointless and I hate it. Watching this anime was suffering. I only finished it because I hate myself.

  • Storytelling – F- Pointless, vapid and insulting.
  • Voice – F – Uniquely awful.
  • Characters – F – Less human than Tatsuya.
  • Attention Grab – F – Could barely stay awake.
  • Production – F – The voice actors sound completely soulless. But given the drivel they were forced to read I can’t blame them.
  • Overall – F

Recommendations – True Tears, Hansaku Iroha, Ano Hana

  1. Why oh why did I read your review 🙁 I’m at 10/13 and I’m hoping that the last three episodes tell me what the heck is going on with the whole shards of the future and the pairing of the two leads–but judging from your comments here, fulfillment isn’t likely to happen. At least pretty glass sparkles?

    1. It was. I was quite impressed. To be faired, they aren’t *all* less human than Tatsuya, it’s mainly the lead male.
