I feel like we’ve been here before.
But, since I’ve since discovered that people actually like this show, let me elaborate a little more.
Kyousougiga is the anime I would have written when I was ten years old. Explosions! Chases! Battles! Giant hammers! Showing the man who’s boss! (How dare they tell me to go to bed and brush my teeth!) Potty humor! “Clever” smack talk! “I’m special!” Kids are smarter than adults!
I’m not ten years old anymore.
If you do like this, then more power to you. The only things I can see that it has going for it are the bright colors and lots of pointless action though.
I’m honestly shocked you don’t like this. As I figured this kind of “crazy in a can” anime was right up your alley.
Normally it is. I love crazy.
But this feels just like crazy for the sake of being crazy. Kyousougiga is saying, “Look, guys! Look how crazy I am!”
Shows like Milky Holmes and Penguindrum are crazy too, but they use this craziness in the service of some other purpose. Kyousougiga feels like it is crazy solely for the sake of being crazy.
This is basically a summary of the whole story in just one episode. The real first episode of the series aired today, and it was pretty good. You should watch it. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
Meh… I’ll think about it… Guess I probably should…
I only managed to watch episode zero so far, but I might give it a try. I haven’t watched the OVA’s and didn’t understand the story, either. But after I while I just focussed on the bright colours and the crazy perspectives and for now I’m fine w/ that. Perhaps all these visual elements have a deeper meaning? At least the setting is rather playful and not awkward as in Sasami-san.
It does have a lot of pretty colors. I don’t have the ability to watch a show based on that alone, unfortunately.
