Millennium Actress Review — A-

millennium_actress_1

Millennium actress follows the story of an actress over the course of her life, while two cameramen interview her.

Thanks to my Secret Santa for recommending this. I’d wanted to watch this for years and finally I had an excuse to force myself to do it. (The other recommendations were Giant Robo and Ghost in the Shell— I definitely want to watch at least Giant Robo too.)

Millennium Actress was as excellent as I expected. Absolutely superb way things fit together. It flows seamlessly between her real life and the scenes of the many movies the actress had starred in, and you start to get confused at what is acting and what is reality. Absolutely superb ending as well. Although I don’t want to say too much about it for fear of spoiling… (I’m sure everybody else has already watched this anyway though.)

I will admit that I liked Tokyo Godfathers more. But that’s not a criticism on Millennium Actress by any means.

If you’re an idiot like me who hadn’t watched this already, do yourself a favor and go watch it right now.
