Owarimonogatari Review — B

It’s finally over! (Except apparently it’s not and there are more OVAS or something? I don’t know, I’m confused. Definitely didn’t seem like they’re finished with Ougi at least.)

See what I said just recently about Second Series.

This season was not as good due to lack of Kaiki and overload of Arararagi. Arararagi… ugh. He’s kind of like Suzaku. In that maybe he’s actually a good character in that he can move me to hate him so much. One of the highlights of Monogatari is watching Arararagi get verbally abused by everyone. He definitely deserves it. And that was also the main highlight in Owarimonogatari. Especially his childhood friend from the first half. She told him exactly what I’ve been thinking of Arararagi this entire time. It was glorious. Of course Arararagi responds with some vapid self-justifying babel and everyone else agrees with it, as usual. But he wouldn’t be himself if that wasn’t the case. It was great seeing his facade get destroyed.

The second part, it was okay. I guess Arararagi grew up a little bit. But really, what that brat needs to learn is some humility. I don’t think we’ve made any progress on that front.

The SHAFTisms didn’t bother me too much.
