Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai. Review — D-

Kyousuke continues to build up his harem only to reject them all in favor of his sister.

Yeah, so this show was pretty terrible. The whole premise is obnoxious. But at least in the first season, there was some amount of consistency to the characterizations and the show at least appeared to have a destination in mind. Here that’s out the window too.

One week the little sister’s friend is visiting. One week he’s dating Kuroneko. One week he’s living with Ayase. The next week he’s cheating on everyone with the short red-haired girl whose name I forget. The final episode is a bloody flashback. The point is, I have no idea what’s going on half the time.

As another example of the show’s logic, Kyousuke is getting along well with his sister and his parents notice this. So what do they do? Kick him out of the house. Yep, that’s right. Everyone knows that if a boy is getting along well with his sister, the only possible reason is because he wants to sleep with her. So they buy him his own apartment which he wastes no time turning into a love nest which always has at least one female caller present. Including his sister, of course. Great plan, mom and dad. Not that I expected any more from them, since they’re somehow completely ignorant of the fact that their daughter is spending all of her money on little sister porn.

Also, they completely ruined Saori’s character. I actually liked her originally when she was a glasses wearing nerd with terrible fashion sense. Then one week she took off her glasses, started wearing frilly dresses and turned into a rich ojou-sama character. There are some things about anime that I will never understand…

Anyway, the only reason I didn’t give this an F is because a few of the Ayase episodes were rather enjoyable. I’m still holding out hope that in the final three episodes she will have a chance to use that knife…

  • Storytelling – F – Unfocused and inconsistent.
  • Voice – D – Feels really generic.
  • Characters – F – Terrible. Ayase is okay. I used to like Saori and Kuroneko but that’s impossible after this season.
  • Attention Grab – F – Was falling asleep.
  • Production – C – Not impressive.
  • Overall – D-

Recommendations – Haruhi, Kannagi, Who is Imouto?

  1. I thought it will be an incest ending when he ditched Ayase in 2nd last episode, but it was a freaking flashback & recap. Seriously, the director must have whipped cream as his brain.

  2. Around the same score I gave the second season… but in my opinion, I think the way they handled Kyousuke’s love interest is poorly done. Not only that, the sequel pretty much threw mostly everything what made the first season good and make it into a romantic comedy where it’s obvious that Kirino will win… Omnibus format would do great there if they are going in that direction…

Also, the ending is a bit weak since it’s a flashback and didn’t really conclude the season properly.

    1. The way they handled Kyosuke’s love interest was terrible. They managed to ruin every female character in the show by having them all turn girly and useless and show up at his apartment hoping for a booty call.

It was always obvious that Kirino was going to win though. I mean the show is about incest… it’s even in the title…
