The Aniblog Tourney Round 3: The Fearsome Foursome

Finally, the time everyone has been eagerly anticipating has arrived: round three in the aniblog tourney! Go vote for your favorite blog (mine) here!

If you’ve never been here before, then welcome! Check out some of my favorite posts, including various other bloggers singing about Guilty Crown (ok, one of those is me), and my commentaries on Mawaru Penguindrum. Continue reading The Aniblog Tourney Round 3: The Fearsome Foursome

Kurokami Medaka: The Perfect Person and Why I Can’t Stand Her

Medaka Box uses an interesting conceit: the main character, Kurokami Medaka, is a “perfect” person. She’s the best at everything, be it athletics, smarts, you name it. She’s popular. She has a perfect body. And I can’t stand her.

Why would anyone dislike a perfect person? Because she’s perfect, of course! Nothing is perfect. As Bob Dylan would say, everything is broken. Continue reading Kurokami Medaka: The Perfect Person and Why I Can’t Stand Her

My Ideal Anime Cast

Yerocha has issued a challenge for people to choose their ideal anime cast. We’re supposed to choose five members of our ideal cast that make up the Five Man Band: the Hero, the Lancer (hero’s complement), the Big Guy, the Smart Man, and the Chick, plus the Big Bad.

Of course, the ideal cast probably won’t make the ideal anime. A good story is not so much about the individual pieces as it is about how those pieces fit together. But let’s give this a try anyway.

The Hero

My choice for hero is Volken Macmani from Book of Bantorra. Volken is everything a hero should be. His sense of justice is perhaps the strongest of anyone I’ve seen in an anime. He always does what’s right, even if that ultimately leads to him leaving the woman he loves behind and marching towards his own death, all on behalf of a complete stranger. The Aniblog Tournament Part 2: Draggle vs. “Michael”

A big thank you to everyone who voted for me in the last round of the anime blog tournament! I narrowly defeated chikorita157, and have advanced to the second round. You should go vote for the best blog (mine) after checking out the other competitors.

If you’ve never been here before, then welcome! Check out some of my favorite posts, including various other bloggers singing about Guilty Crown (ok, one of those is me), and my commentaries on Mawaru Penguindrum. Yes, I do episodic blogging. And there seems to be a lot of discrimination distinction towards episodic blogs in this tournament. But I don’t do summaries, and try to keep things thoughtful and interesting. If you think episodic blogs are all pointless and monotonous, then try expanding your horizons (but wait to expand your horizons until after you vote for me).

In the last matchup, Chikorita157 may have been defeated, but his spirit still lives on. I will continue to hold him in my memory as I fight in this tournament, so that his death will not have been in vain. In fact, I can still sense his raging spirit fighting by my side. Chikorita157, you will never be forgotten! Your death shall be avenged!

Our opponent this time is shrouded in mystery. He goes by the secretive handle “Michael,” with no surname. Even more suspicious is the fact that this “Michael” hasn’t posted any pictures of himself on the Internet, unlike open minded people such as myself and Chikorita157 (who has posted so many pictures we don’t know which ones are truly him). Worst of all, this “Michael” doesn’t have a Twitter account that I can heckle him with! Continue reading The Aniblog Tournament Part 2: Draggle vs. “Michael”

The Anime Blog Tournament: Draggle vs. Chikorita157

For those of you who don’t know, I’m participating in a tournament among anime blogs. Today I’m up in the first round, against chikorita157! So check out his blog and then vote for the one you like best! (I’ll help: it stars with a ‘D’) You also may want to check out some of the other participants in the tournament.

For those who are new to this site, welcome! Let me tell you a bit about myself.

I’m Awesome

Don’t take my word for it, though.

Draggle’s Anime Blog – It’s a fairly popular episodic blog which… I feel confident… can win this round… in…all… likelihood… since …he makes creative posts and writes good reviews. — chikorita157

Ok, so that wasn’t exactly what he said. He spelled “likelihood” as “likely hood.” I was kind enough to fix it for him. Everyone makes mistakes, after all. Continue reading The Anime Blog Tournament: Draggle vs. Chikorita157
