Two girls explore magical worlds and fall in love.
I like the idea of Flip Flappers much more than I liked Flip Flappers. The fantastical worlds, the gorgeous animation, the story of self-discovery.
But in practice… I just couldn’t particularly bring myself to care? I’m not entirely sure why. Looking at it with some distance, it seems like something I should really like. I imagine that the main issue is that I didn’t care about either of the two main girls. Papika has the intelligence of a two year old, and Cocona is a bit of an ass? Oh well, you can’t like everything…
I would recommend this to others though, or to at least try the first episode. A lot of people liked it much more than me. And it’s the kind of show I wish I could like.
