Sabagebu Review — A-

The survival game club participates in club activities.

Sabagebu was an unexpected gem. It ended up being one of the funniest shows I’ve seen in years.

Part of the humor stems from the fact that the main character is an asshole. She’s great.

And it’s hard to beat this show in sheer craziness and ridiculousness.

Not much to say, other than the fact that Sabagebu was the best show of the season.

  • Storytelling – A – Hilarious.
  • Voice – A – The narrator is one of the most distinctive and also one of the most distinctive parts of the show.
  • Characters – A – Momoka is great. I wish we had more characters like her. And each of the others is crazy in their own way as well.
  • Attention Grab – A – Never left me bored. Every episode left me in tears of laughter.
  • Production – B – Looks fine.
  • Overall – A-

  1. I agree, this was unexpected and excellent! I’m not sure if I’d call it better than Barakamon but in any case it was a treat. Momoka’s ruthlessness was cool indeed. I also loved how much blood was spilled and how completely random this series was at times. Like in the final episode e.g. suffering from a virus which multiplexes your voice or how they later showed some room in the Kodansha building for the Christmas party. Perhaps the randomness was just a result of lazy or non-existent writing, but it was really funny!

    1. Yes haha so great! I don’t think the randomness was due to laziness, they planned things out quite well, often having multi-episode jokes, like the one girl always dying first lol.
