I’ve loosely ranked the season’s shows from worst to best (rough guide: A=awesome, B+=great, B-=good, C=decent, D=bad, F=fail). I’ve tried to keep this post concise. Click on the show title for a full review. Let’s begin!

What were your favorite and least favorite shows last season?
My top 3: Hyouka, Jintai, Utakoi.
I recommend giving Utakoi a second chance if you like Japanese history and aesthetics! It obviously is a low budget show but it looks nice nevertheless and the stories are touching with their melancholy.
Tari Tari and Accel World mainly saved from fail for their fanservice.
Fail shows were dropped as soon as identified as fail (e.g. Arcana Famiglia).
The rest (as far as I watched it): Moyashimon turned out to be a waste of time. Natsuyuki was boring at the first half but became quite endearing and nicely made later… fairy Rokka was cute until it turned she was actually the –> spoiler <–. Joshiraku was hit or miss, mostly quite good but for lack of subs not completed by now. Oda Nobuna was indeed better than expected but not really above average. Kokoro Connect had this interesting setting but it became too whiny and somewhat repetitive after a while… I liked Yui, though! SAO is lacking in many ways but I'm unfamiliar with MMORPG's and I liked how this setting is explored.
Seems to me many people with taste watched Yuru Yuri. Maybe I've missed something here? I found season 1 rather annoying and dropped it. Eureka Seven and Hunter x Hunter seem to feature mainly guys so I didn't even take them up.
I do want to finish watching Utakoi eventually. I just ended up falling behind this summer and never caught up.
YuruYuri can be hit or miss. Sometimes it’s boring but sometimes it’s hilarious. You have to be a bit masochistic to enjoy it, I think, because it’s so soul crushingly depressing.
I think you might like Eureka Seven AO, it actually does have a bunch of cute girls. One of them likes doing cosplay. Most of the girls don’t show up until the second episode I think (?) when Ao goes to work at the company and leaves his home.
Hunter X Hunter does feature mainly guys though.
Thanks for the recommendation of Eureka Seven AO! I won’t be able to catch up w/ it now but I hope I’ll find time to watch it someday later (scheduled after Onii koto but prior to YuruYuri 😉
I’ll warn you, Onii koto is pretty bad.
I dunno Draggle I think Onii Koto is hilarious! I watch it for the random characters and the little sister has some great reactions towards some of the other girls xD
The little sister is definitely the best part. But then it gets tied down in all these other girls, triple chains of stalking, adn I don’t know what else… still, it was decent

I would give Accel World the same score as SAO.
I want to give correction to jdering though, SAO is in no way a MMORPG anime. Because the show removed 90% of the game mechanics. Instead, it focused itself as a badly written romance story. Yeah, a story in which you wouldn’t care if he had sex/not, if he’s alive/not, if he cheated on his e-waifu/not.
Accel World is saved by the cool fights. Unlike SAO’s battles which ended in less two minutes, AW’s battles are handled properly. I like them for eyes candy alone.
I don’t know, I thought SAO looks way better than Accel World. It definitely has character designs that are more pleasing on the eye, at the very least. I also hate long, extended battles, so SAO’s method worked better for me here as well.
Also, I just don’t really see the point of Accel World. They can use it to accelerate their brain, but then they don’t because that would be cheating. The worst thing that can happen is the game is they can’t play anymore. But what’s the problem with that? It seems to me that their lives would be better without this stupid game, which is a huge timesink and a constant source of conflict.
It’s a big problem if you can’t play anymore. Having the so called Brain Burst software allows you to move around while everybody else is frozen. You could easily become the top on everything. The main characters didn’t make good use of it, well, because, they are stupid. Hahaha.
You have a point. The biggest problem is not that Brain Burst is useless, but that the main characters are stupid.
I would use Brain Burst to watch lots of anime~
that sounds like an excellent plan, it’s too bad the characters in Accel World don’t have anything worthwhile they want to do with their lives

I think your summer watch list was the same as mine, but I sat through each episode of damn mafia/card series wtf was I smoking? I should have dropped that after the first episode like you…anyway I agree on Accel World, Hagure Yuusha no Estetica, Campione! and Kono Naka ni Hitori Imouto ga Iru! those are some well deserved grades.
I NEED MORE Kuroko Connect and Eureka Seven Ao! Not seeing the “ending” is killing me…ah well one more month until we can wrap up Ao forever! I just want to see Renton T_________T

I’m looking forward to the end of Kokoro Connect and E7 Ao as well. I don’t really care about Renton though. Now if they had cameos by Dominic and Anemone…
