Shorts: Don’t know, don’t care.
You may notice that I dropped way more shows than I usually do. And I was much happier because of it. This may become a trend.
21. Dog and Scissors — F
The only show this season I truly regret finishing.
20. Free! — D-
Nuts! But mostly butts.
19. Watamote — D-
Good ideas but held back by repetitiveness.
18. Danganronpa — D-
Awful in every way, but I couldn’t stop watching.
17. Fate Kaleid Liner PRISM ILYA — D+
Ilya is a magical girl advised by Rin. Not quite as awful as it sounds.
16. Shingeki no Kyojin — C-
A daringly poignant social commentary, a timeless masterpiece for all generations.
15. Majestic Prince — C
Ugliest thing I’ve ever seen but still enjoyable despite that.
14. Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S — C+
Less lesbian tea parties, more blowing shit up. Too many lolis though.
13. Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi — B-
By all rights this show should be terrible. But each arc’s finale was emotionally powerful.
12. Chihayafuru S2 — B-
Too much attention to the tournaments instead of the relationships. It got repetitive.
11. Servant x Service — B-
Funny. Also focusing on working adults is a nice change of pace.
10. Rozen Maiden (2013) — B-
Great coming of age story. Not so great story about magical dolls.
9. Gin no Saji — B-
Mmm… Pig….
8. Hunter X Hunter — Ongoing
I’m liking this Chimera Ants arc a lot. Feels like the focus on the main characters has been lost. But we’re past the hundredth episode now and I’m still enjoying this. That’s quite an accomplishment.
7. Senhime Zesshou Symphogear G: In the Distance, That Day, When the Star Became Music… — B
Fuck the moon.
6. Mushibugyo — B
Fairly standard shounen, but with a lot of heart and a good romance.
5. Genshiken Nidaime — B
Wish we could have gotten Ogiue and Sasahara instead of cross-dressing, but hey, it’s Genshiken.
4. High School DxD New — B
A perverted harem that’s completely shameless and actually funny. I love it.
3. Love Lab — B
It is possible to have cute girls doing cute things in shows that I like. If they’re funny. Like Love Lab.
2. Uchouten Kazoku — A-
Perhaps not the strongest story, but its sense of humor and visual direction is top-notch.
1. Gatchaman Crowds — A-
Quirky, stylish and original.
What are your thoughts on the last season? Feel welcome to share in the comments!
Shingeki no Kyojin is the daring social commentary which reveals how lazy and rebellious teenagers are by depicting an angry Eren taking four episodes to lift a rock.
Also, putting High School DxD over the Genshiken sequel…. Draggle, you will always have the best taste. (No sarcasm intended!)
I’m glad he linked that titan post ahah !
Also you both have questionable tastes.
We both have awesome tastes I think you mean.
Clearly the rock symbolizes the oppression of the proletariat, and Eren takes the place of Sisyphus in his unending but joyful struggle against fate, who teaches the higher fidelity that negates the gods and raises rocks.
SnK, the most overrated shit of last season. Only that it’s actually somewhat decent, unlike SAO. The weakness is none other than it’s own characters: main characters suck, while side characters such as Jean, Connie and potato girl being better. Of course it stands no chance against Gatchaman with it’s clever analogy of social media, troll and internet users.
Maybe I should continue watching Rozen Maiden and Love Lab. Honestly I don’t find them to be that attention grabbing. What makes them so great for you?
Rozen Maiden is just okay, although I do really like Jun’s growth in the real world. The parts with dolls (i.e., most of the show) is not that good though. Love Lab I found hilarious. It may not be everyone’s style of humor though.
Here’s my opinion:
Gifuu Doudou!: Kanetsugu to Keiji: Certainly an underrated gem with all sorts of smart political machinations, interesting character interactions and epic OST, but the character designs and animation are questionable.
Servant X Service: An absurd comedy that is light on the absurd side and heavy on the comedy side. The character interactions are very amusing, but the romantic plotlines overtake the slice-of-life feel of the show.
Senyuu. 2: Just as amazing as 1st season, except with more serious plot.
Kin-iro Mosaic: A very cute, relaxing and amusing slice-of-life anime. Watching it after work really does wonders to reduce my stress so much that I couldn’t care less about its actual quality.
Fantasista Doll: The only good thing about this anime is the character designs, OST and battle choreography. Everything else are medicore.
I dropped Gifuu Doudou mainly due to the animation. The rest of it seemed kind of interesting.
For Servant X Service, the romantic plotlines made me enjoy it much more than I would have had it solely focused on the comedy side.
Can’t stand relaxing anime like Kiniro Mosaic.
